David Boyer – Residential Realtor®
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, fortunate enough to be the son of a couple who believed in community service as well as good business. I graduated from Clark High School and went to Georgia Tech to study Architecture.
While I did not finish in Architecture, I did earn a BS degree in Industrial Management. Not wanting at the time to come back to Las Vegas, I spent a year working out of Philadelphia, PA for my college fraternity, Phi Kappa Sigma. After a year travelling for Phi Kap, I came home to go to work for my father, “just until I figured out what I wanted to do.”
I had started working for my father in his hard-money mortgage brokerage on a part-time basis in 1973. Starting full-time in 1975, I learned the real estate and mortgage business from the ground up, including the very old-fashioned ideals of my father. After satisfying himself that I was going to stick with business, my father allowed me to get my salesman’s license in 1977. I later obtained my broker’s license in 1979, becoming the broker of David P Boyer Realty. Boyer Realty handled real estate sales for our investors and partners. In 1985, I moved the real estate portion of my business to Jack Matthews & Co.
In 1988, I closed the mortgage company and went to work in the Commercial Division of Jack Matthews & Co. In the intervening years, the company went through a number of mergers and name changes and is now known as Prudential Americana Group, REALTORS®. During this time, I have handled both residential and commercial transactions and managed both residential and commercial offices. In addition to my Broker-Salesman License in Nevada, I also hold a Principal Broker License in the State of Oregon.
Continuing the family tradition of community service, I have served on the board of the Boulder Dam Area Boy Scouts and as a scoutmaster. Additionally, I have been a member of the Las Vegas Jaycees, Las Vegas Rotary, Las Vegas Executive’ Association, Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS® and the Nevada Association of REALTORS®. In 2008 I was appointed to a 3-year term as a Commissioner for the Nevada Real Estate Division. I was re-appointed in 2011 for a second 3-year term.
I have been married to my wife Jan since 1985. We have five children, ranging from 30 to 45, and two grandsons, ages 18 and 16.
